MD Store

Myrto Dramountani, a renowned athenian fashion brand, opens the doors to a flagship store in the commercial center of Athens, Kolonaki. Myrto is known for her statement pieces, clothing with complex geometrical patterns and shapes. ‘Fashion for me has an architectural dimension and application. We construct clothes for the same reason we construct a house: we seek a shelter for the body and we achieve that through geometric designs.’

We worked closely with Myrto’s love for geometrical forms, which is reflected on the ceiling design. The ground floor interior aesthetic is defined by sleek stainless steel walls, a bespoke furniture island and a soft ceiling, where the fashion designer is displaying her concept on ‘Fabric Architecture’. Layered fabric panels form an intricate pattern, illuminated by the repetitively hung light fixtures. A simple and clean rectangular store layout, allow the elaborate garments to take centre stage.

The stores basement level embodies the concept of balancing chaos. Clean white walls and curtains stand in contrast to an untamed floor pattern, combining earthy ochre with unruly splashes of black paint.

The earthy colour tone forms the glue between the ground floor aesthetic and the quite different basement level feel.

Elina Loukou, the lead architect mentions, ‘It was key to introduce an element of chaos, an unruly counterpart to the clean walls and ceilings, creating tension and excitement.’
