Pop Up Bar - Stavros Niarhos Foundation Athens
The temporary intervention acts as a colourful lantern which can be seen from far away, giving the cultural centre an alluring presence. The design features three key ingredients inspired by Christmas ornaments. A radiant translucent red curtain, blocks of bold coloured carpet and a chic DJ Booth. Through generous, widespread arms, the carpet draws visitors in and connects these main features.
A performative relationship is established between the elements, the visitors and the existing space that contains them, activating the entire terrace. The atmosphere is enhanced and expanded by a complementing, play of lights.
Visitors are invited to dance, listen to music and gaze upon the city of Athens through a magical red filter.
